Where are you located?

We are located less than 5 minutes (2.3 miles) east of Page on highway 98. We suggest using our google pin drop or entering “Mile Post 299 AZ-98, Page, Arizona 86040”, into google maps or GPS. A friendly reminder, Apple Maps and Microsoft Maps are not correct, and you will get lost.

Do you do tours to Lower Antelope Canyon?

While we DO NOT offer tours to Lower Antelope Canyon, we’d be happy to recommend an incredible tour company that does!

What is the distance from your office to the different Canyon entrances?

Upper Antelope Canyon is located 3 miles from the office, approximately a 15-minute drive.

Rattlesnake Canyon is 2.5 miles away, also about a 15-minute drive.

Rattlesnake and Owls Canyons are a combined tour, with Owls located 1 mile from Rattlesnake.

Mountain Sheep Canyon is 3 miles from the office, about a 15-minute drive as well.

Do you offer private tours?

Sadly, no, we do not offer private tours. We are new to the area, our tours are less congested and receive less traffic than Lower and Upper Antelope Slot Canyon. If you wish to buy an entire tour time to guarantee a private tour, you are more than welcome to do so.

What time zone do you operate on? Why does my time change while driving?

We operate on Mountain Standard Time or Arizona Standard Time. Although our business is located on the Navajo Nation Reservation, we operate at the same time as the City of Page, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, and Las Vegas.

The Navajo Nation Reservation is located North of Flagstaff and East of Grand Canyon National Park, and Utah state which is North of Page, Arizona state line. Both operate on Daylight Saving Time. All electronic devices will automatically move 1 hour ahead. Do not panic, you are not running late. Your time should change back to MST once you reach the city of Page.

Are reservations required?

No, reservations are not required, but booking in advance does secure your tour
time. Walk-ins are welcome but tour times will be based on availability.

Can I book the Photography Tour and only use my smartphone?

No, our Photography Tour is mainly booked for professional photographers. You do have to utilize a professional handheld camera and tripod to book this tour.

Are pets allowed?

No, however we do make the exception for guest who book Mountain Sheep. This Canyon has 2 ladders (7 steps,15 steps) and guests are responsible to ensure the safety of your pets on the ladders. Rattlesnake & Owl Canyons have multiple ladders and stairs and is very difficult to navigate with pets. All pets are required to be well behaved and on leash while on tour.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • If reservation is cancelled 7 days prior to tour departure, guests will be
    fully refunded 100%.
  • A partial refund of 48% will be issued, if cancelled within 3-6 days
    before the tour departure.
  • No refunds will be issued if cancelled within 72 hours of tour
    departure. No exceptions made.
  • We are happy to rebook your reservation if needed 24 hours prior
    to original departure. Only if available, but it will be noted on booking
    not to refund if cancelled later.
  • A full refund will be issued if Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation or
    Canyon Operators cancels tours.
  • All reservations must be cancelled via email or phone. If cancelling via
    email, send request to blackstreakcanyontours@gmail.com. Timestamp of
    email sent will count as official time of cancellation notice. If cancelling
    via phone, please call our reservation office at 928-307-8368, Mon-Sun,
    7am-7:30pm or leave a voicemail.
  • All No Shows will not be refunded and will be charged full price.

What happens if there is bad weather?

  • We do not have any forewarning if tours will be cancelled prior to your tour date. Navajo Parks and Recreation and the Weather Service work closely with one another. The moment they decide tours are no longer safe, then they will issue notice to us to stop tours. Then we immediately notify our guests of cancelled tours. We do apologize if this creates any frustration, but the weather is beyond our control.
  • A full refund will be issued if Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation or Canyon Operators cancels, due to weather or any other unforeseen circumstances.

What is allowed on tours, what is not?

Bags of any kind are not permitted on the tour. However, if you have a medical need, we will provide a clear bag for you to carry your medication.

You may bring a handheld camera, and we recommend attaching a neck strap. Smartphones are also welcome for taking photos. However, stabilizing equipment of any kind is not allowed inside Rattlesnake and Owl Canyons. This includes tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, GoPros, and similar gear. Tripods are permitted only in Mountain Sheep Slot Canyon, and only if you book the Photography Tour.

Am I allowed to go into the Canyon on my own?

No. All visitors going into any Canyon require a tour guide to be present and accompany them at all times. In the event of an emergency, this is for your safety and well-being.

Are there restroom facilities onsite?

Yes. We have port-a-potties and a handwashing station available for our guests.

How should I dress for the tour?

Dress appropriately for time of year/season. Wear loose comfortable clothing or activewear. Layers are encouraged, as you get moving through the Canyons you will warm up. No dresses or skirts, due to the ladders present inside the Canyons. Approved shoes for tour will be sneakers or hiking shoes. No high heels or sandals. You may bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Are your tours handicapped accessible?

Sadly, no. some areas of the pathways are too sandy and rocky. We do have ladders and stairs on tour.

Can you accommodate an RV or Travel Trailer in your parking lot?

Yes. Our parking lot is large enough to accommodate our road warrior travelers.

Are there stairs or ladders on your tours?

Yes, Mountain Sheep has 2 ladders (7 steps, 16 steps). Upon entering Rattlesnake Canyon. 2 small steps down, followed by 4 separate ladders as you progress through the Canyon (ranging from 5, 4, 9, and 14 steps at exit). Owl has 1 short ladder (4 steps).

Does your Canyon get sunbeams?

Yes, Rattlesnake Canyon If the weather allows, tours booked between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM usually provide a great opportunity to see the sunbeams.

For the most breathtaking light beams, Upper Antelope Canyon is the top choice especially during the 11:25 AM tour, which is widely regarded as the best time to witness the canyon’s iconic shafts of light. These stunning beams are most prominent during the spring and summer months, from April through September.

Are baby carries or baby hiking backpacks allowed on tour?

Yes, only on Mountain Sheep Canyon tour. Rattlesnake & Owl Canyon are too narrow to safely navigate without injuring your child and damaging the Canyon walls.

If I visited another Canyon earlier in the day, can I waive the Navajo Nation Permit Fee?

Yes. Provided you show proof of receipt upon check-in. Your visit to the Lower/Upper must be on the same business day as your tour. Your refund will be issued to the credit card on file for reservation.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes, United States active military personnel and veterans do receive a discount. A valid Military Identification Card or Veterans Identification Card (VIC) must be presented upon check-in for verification.
